BREED STANDARD
EYES
Almond shaped 1, dark 2, not set too close together, full of fire and intelligence 3.

Discussion Notes:

1. The term "almond shaped" (as illustrated in Figure A) indicates that the eyes should appear neither round (as illustrated in Figure B) nor as narrow slits (as illustrated in Figure C). A round eye generally occurs with a skull which is too wide, whilst a narrow eye will not permit the eyes to be "full of fire and intelligence" as is required.

2. The eye colour is neither black nor is it light. Refer to COLOUR for the various eye colour requirements in the different coloured Poodles.

3. "Full of fire and intelligence" indicates the need for correct eye colour and the eye should indicate alertness and expressiveness rather than a disinterested, dull or terrified appearance. A light eye will detract from the desired expression.
